After 32 days and 600 miles, we have made it to the Emmanuel Home in Thomasville, NC. It was a joy to walk the last 5 miles with my family. This adventure has been a tremendous challenge and joy. We are thankful to have been able to serve along side the men and women of Christian Adoption Services and Baptist Children's Home of NC, to bring awareness to the many ministries they have, and to help see a home for birthmothers in need, begin to become a reality. The Lord has truly had His hand upon this walk, from start to finish.
Read More"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6:8) The above verse was referenced in a sermon that I heard yesterday. As I was walking today, I thought about it again. It was a reminder to me of how we as Christians are called to live our lives daily. We are called to pray to our Heavenly Father, and read His Word. It is those two blessings, prayer and Scripture, that should motivate and guide how we live out our faith.
Read MoreToday, I decided to rest up and spend the day with my family, as I prepare to start the last 49 miles of this 600 journey tomorrow. We decided to go over to Old Salem. It is always interesting to see and learn about history. While there we walked through the Moravian Church cemetery. On this Halloween day, most seem to make light of death. However, as you walk through a cemetery, it brings to reality that life is short and fleeting.
Read MoreToday I started from Hanging Rock State Park in Dunbary, and began my trek South to the Emmanuel Home in Thomasville. I was also able to start today's hike with my family. It is always great to be in creation, and enjoy it with my family. Hanging Rock is truly a beautiful park, and it reminds me of how everything in creation points to a Creator. Seeing how everything, from the changing of the seasons, to the plants and animals, everything working together according to it's designed purpose.
Read MoreThis morning, I got a late start due to some bad weather, but thankfuly I was able to hike 22 miles and complete Segment 8 of the Mountains to Sea Trail, ending today in Hanging Rock State Park just outside of Danbury.
Something that my wife reminded me of today was that fact of how blessed we are as believers, in the fact that we understand that God is in control, and even when things do not go according to our plans, we can trust that the Lord has us right where He wants us.
The weather report showed about an 80 percent chance of rain today as a cold front is moving into the area, but thankfully the weather held off long enough for me to get a little over 21 more miles completed today. Putting me over the 500 mile mark.
Read MoreToday I was blessed to start my hike with my wife and son. We all enjoy being in creation, so on this beautiful day, I was thankful to be able to spend some time this morning on the trail with my family. One lesson that I was reminded of today, while I was on the trail, was to be careful not to stumble, both physically and spiritualy. While hiking, especially this time of year, when the leaves have fallen, it is hard sometimes to see small roots and rocks. You may not notice them, until you stump your toe on them.
Read MoreWe spent today washing clothes and repacking so that we could head to Thomasville. For the remainder of the walk, our home base will be on the campus of Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina in Thomasville. They have graciously offered us a couple of rooms in their Family Resource Center. This is a blessing and we are thankful for their generosity and help.

I am so thankful for the support of my family, and the love and sacrifice of my wife. She is truly a gift from the Lord, and I am blessed everyday because of her.
Read MoreToday the Lord blessed me with another day of beautiful weather and I was able to complete about 28 more miles. However, after completing a little over 100 miles in four days, I am tired. Today, as I wanted to stop and rest, I was reminded of the comfort of resting in our Heavenly Father. How we can rest and trust in Him to take care of us.
Read MoreToday, I continued my trek around Falls Lake on the Mountains to Sea Trail (MST). This trail follows along the Southern shore of the lake and goes through many different NC Wildlife Gameland Areas. As you see the warning signs, and hear the gunshots, it really brings to mind the text, "In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;" (Eph. 6:16)
Read MoreToday I had to backtrack a little bit. I had planned to start from Rocky Mount yesterday, but due to scheduling conflicts, I decided to start on the Mountains to Sea Trail (MST) yesterday, and begin from Christian Adoption Services' (CAS) Rocky Mount office this morning.

It has been such a blessing to know so many people have been praying for you, and sending you words of encouragement. Today, I also crossed over the halfway point on this journey, 303 miles completed.
Read MoreWalking through Eastern North Carolina over the last couple of weeks I have seen farm after farm gathering in their harvest. When I saw this cotton field today, it made me think about Jesus' words in John 4:35. It is the Holy Spirit that convicts and converts someone unto Saving faith, but the Lord in His divine will has chosen to use ordinary men women to proclaim the Gospel.
Read MoreWell today was pretty uneventful, except for another dog that thought I looked good enough to try and take a bite out of.
