Big Ministry Update

Dear CAS Family,

I am writing to share some exciting ministry news with you! Effective October 1, 2020, Christian Adoption Services will be merging with Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH). Boards of both ministries unanimously approved the merger earlier this week. This is an historic occasion for CAS after 41 years of service as a stand-alone ministry. BCH is in their 135th year of ministry and operates 21 group homes (“cottages”) throughout the state of North Carolina. As you may remember, a partnership was formed in July 2019 between both organizations which allowed CAS to expand and work with families who were in the foster-to-adopt process. The relationship with both ministries blossomed from there and naturally led to CAS coming under the umbrella of BCH.

This move is something that has been bathed in prayer for months and was carefully considered by both parties.  Dr. Blackwell, president of BCH since 1983, and myself, who has been at CAS since 2016, recognize the culture that we are in today and believe this merger will allow CAS to have an even greater impact in the world of adoption for many years to come.  The complete merger is expected to take place over a year’s time due to licensing regulations. We are excited to continue to minister in both North and South Carolina as well as with families who feel led to adopt internationally.

For you, our CAS family, this move will not change how we operate currently. We will continue to be Christian Adoption Services as you have always known us and we will operate under that name.  We will still be holding all of our annual fundraising events and all gifts given to CAS will remain with us to directly impact adoptions.  All of our offices in both states will remain open and we hope to add a few more in the coming months. To all of our non-Baptist supporters, we will still be working with families from all denominations who love Jesus, and I will continue to preach the Gospel in churches that will have me.  The Lord has reminded me throughout this entire process that CAS is not mine or anyone else’s, but that this ministry is His and that we exist to build His Kingdom.

I look forward to sharing an update on the transition with all of you in our November newsletter.  Thank you for your continued prayers.  I can’t wait to see what God is going to do as a result of the synergy of these two great organizations coming together to care for children in the Carolinas and throughout the world.

Take care and God bless!
