Explaining Adoption
Adoption is a beautiful choice. Nevertheless, it is often times misunderstood. Many view adoption as the birth mother does not love her child and is shameful, when adoption is really love in its greatest form. Adoption is love from the heart and that love is displayed when choosing the harder path in placing a child for adoption with a loving Christian family.
When you choose adoption for your child it is not out of a lack of love for your child. Rather, it is out of a greater love that you want to see that your child has the best that life has to offer. Adoption is seen in the Bible when God sacrificed His only Son so that each of us could have eternal life. Adoption as a concept started with God and is sanctioned by God. You make the greatest personal sacrifice when you place your child for adoption. You realize that even though you might be a “good” parent at this point in your life, you cannot be the “best” parent and that is what you are seeking for your child–the very best. You are choosing to place your child with a family who puts God first in their lives and who are ready to take on the roll of being “mom” and “dad” spiritually, physically and financially.
Adoption helps families who are ready to be parents to fulfill their lifelong dream of being a parent. Many of these families have tried to conceive a child but God has another plan for their life that includes parenting a child through adoption. Many families have been on the roller coaster ride of infertility and have come to realize that the way God has called them to become a family is through adoption.
The adoption process may be difficult for some people to understand, but it is important to see the long term positives in this choice – for everyone involved. Adoption truly is the greatest act of love.
