International Adoptions
It has been estimated that there are 143 million orphaned children throughout the world. Being a number that is so incomprehensible, one cannot help but wonder how any adoption agency or relief program can make a difference. What is known is that if Christian Adoption Services can help to eliminate the loneliness and strife of one child, it matters for that child.
In general terms, most children at placement range from toddlers, approximately one year of age, to teenagers under 16 years. Adoptive parents can specify their range of acceptance of children by age, gender and health. The wait for referral and placement generally ranges from 1-2 years with the exception of school-age children and those who are part of a sibling group. As might be expected the wait is longer for younger, healthy children. With the exception of Liberia, adoptive parents are expected to travel abroad to meet their children.
CAS currently coordinates adoptive placements from three countries: the Philippines, El Salvador, and Africa. Fact sheets that provide the specifics of each country can be obtained by clicking on the flag of the respective country. Families are needed for all countries.
CAS also coordinates adoptive placements for North Carolina residents through other licensed agencies and orphan care ministries which work in such countries as Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Korea.
